About the Visual Symbol Library
About CMCD
CMCD's Visual Symbols Library is the world's leading collection of iconographic stock photography. The originator of digital royalty-free stock photography, CMCD was founded over 10 years ago in San Francisco by design pioneer Clement Mok.

The CMCD "picture dictionary" style is built on the idea that crisp, archetypal imagery is a day-to-day tool for communication that informs, instructs, and inspires. CMCD images are professionally styled and art directed by the team responsible for popular images like Desk Bell, Indi the Wonder Dog, and The Internet Guy.

Unlike the big stock image houses that organize their images around endless arbitrary editorial categories with millions of images based on trends and fashion, CMCD's images are designed and selected for their timeless, iconic, and utilitarian qualities. Like classic typefaces, our images are simple, direct, and universal; they have been used again and again for projects in diverse media. Providing the basics and delivering the best images at the best prices in the industry is the focus of this new service.

The initial selection offered as the Visual Symbols Library is culled from the most popular images from our library of 3500 images originally distributed by PhotoDisc. For nearly ten years, we've been watching and learning from the ways designers search for images. We've put that understanding to work by constantly updating and expanding our collection.

We offer three subscription options:

Standard | 15 downloads a year
$299.95 (about $20 per image)

Silver | 30 downloads a year
$499.95 (about $16 per image)

Gold| 70 downloads a year
$999.95 (about $14 per image)
